Assistant Directing

Throughout the years I have helped assistant direct the Randolph High Schools play. For two years, while I was finishing my undergrad I worked as a volunteer assistant. Within the last three years, I've taken on the role as the the assistant director and it's been an incredible experience. My responsibilities as assistant director include; casting, set design, costume design, staging/blocking notes, character development, social media management, promos, and interpersonal relationships with the actors.

Drama Driven

Drama Driven is a club I started when I was seventeen. As someone who loves theatre, I have been able to see the joy theatre can bring to others. It is because of this that I wanted to bring joy to those who need it most. I created a one-act theatre troupe that goes out into the community and performs for those who do not always have access to theatre. We performed at places such as nursing homes, children's hospitals, homeless youth shelters, and women and children's shelters. As the director, creator, and organizer of this group, I was able to see first hand, the difference theater can make.

Summer Arts Camp

In my hometown of Randolph, there is often not enough emphasis put on theatre. I want all kids to have the opportunity to explore their acting abilities and make new friends. What better way to do that than through a theatre arts camp! This is what drove me to create Randolph's first ever summer arts camp! This week long camp includes singing, dancing, acting, and art activities that teach 4th-6th graders the basics of theatre! At the end of the week, the kids put on a performance showcasing all that they learned.

Snatch and Release

I worked as the director of the 10 minute play, Snatch and Release. A show that focuses on positive feminine sexuality. This first hand directing experience has allowed me understand more deeply the elements of production, blocking, scheduling, promotion, and interpersonal connections with my actresses.

Speech Coaching

As someone who competed in Speech for seven years, I have a passion for the activity that runs deep. After my Speech career ended, I couldn't keep away! I got a job as a Speech Coach my freshman year of college and the rest is history. I have coached the categories: Duo, Humorous, Drama, Prose, Storytelling, and Poetry. In collaboration with my talented speech kids and coworkers, we have been able to establish a successful team with many participants advancing to state tournaments and high placements at meets.

Kids Club Coordinator

I had the opportunity to work as a Kids Club Coordinator for an organization called Youthworks in Rosebud South Dakota. As a coordinator, I was in charge of planning activities for kids ages 5-13 and daily activities for teenagers. These activities include arts and crafts, songs, writing, and skits. Through this outlet, the community children learned about manners and positive encouragement. By facilitating the teenagers through workshops and activities, a program was created through the arts.

A Moment of Magic

I was involved with the organization A Moment of Magic at Gustavus. In this group, we dress as a princess and go visit kids with terminal illnesses. I perform as the character Anna from Frozen. There are very specific makeup and character traits that I must embody on each visit.

Gustavus Resiliency Org

GRO is a student lead organization I created that is dedicated to promoting resilience and stress management in fellow Gusties as well as providing peers with fun opportunities for stress relief. Theses opportunities included events such as; cookies and coloring, paint a pot, yoga/relaxation, GRO gifts, and Soup for the Soul. As the president of this organization, my hope was to encourage others to focus on self care through the arts and self exploration.
